The brandmark adopts a refined egg oval - vertical, serene, symbolic of purity and new beginnings. Architectural rather than illustrative; premium without being cold.
Scribal Abbreviation
In medieval manuscripts, a macron (overline) was a scribal abbreviation known as a "nasal suspension". A horizontal bar over a letter indicated that an n or m had been omitted to save space on precious vellum.
One of its most famous uses was n, which stood for the Latin word non - "not" or "no". For No Nasties, this historical shorthand literally distils the brand's name into a single character that means "No" - a refinement that removes the unnecessary to leave only what matters.
Logical Negation
In modern mathematics, logic, and electronics, the overline is called a vinculum. A bar over a variable represents NOT. In set theory, it denotes the complement - everything that is not in the set.
Using N signals a binary choice: the presence of the brand is the literal negation of "Nasties." It frames No Nasties as a scientific and logical standard of purity.
Visual Impact
The oval around the N acts as a cartouche - a protective seal. In chemistry and older shorthand, symbols enclosed in ovals denote a specific concentration or a "protected" element.
The hard, straight line of the macron creates a sharp visual contrast with the soft curves of the egg oval, making the mark look modern and authoritative while nodding to its ancient scribal roots. Two layers of meaning in a single, considered form.
The No Nasties surface pattern is derived directly from the egg oval brandmark. Upright and rotated ovals are interlocked in a half-drop repeat, creating an elegant all-over texture that reads as both modern and considered. The pattern is built entirely from a single shape — the brand's core form.

Gift wrap, tissue paper, box liners and carrier bags. Digital backgrounds for editorial content and social. Embossed or blind-debossed on outer packaging. Scaled down tightly for product label backgrounds. Always at reduced opacity so the egg form reads as texture, not wallpaper.
Never place on the same surface as the primary wordmark without generous clear space. Do not mix multiple scale variants on a single application. Never fill the ovals with colour — stroke only. Avoid rendering at such small scale that the oval becomes indistinct from a circle.
